# Add your own leads to an agent

> Four ways to hand an agent leads yourself, from its own screen: by hand, pasted, from a CSV, or a quick search.

export const UiPath = ({children}) => {
  const parts = String(children).split(/\s*(?:→|>)\s*/).filter(Boolean);
  return <span className="pl-path">
      {parts.map((part, index) => <span key={`${index}-${part}`}>
          {index > 0 && <span className="pl-path__sep">→</span>}
          {part}
        </span>)}
    </span>;
};

export const Screenshot = ({id, alt, caption, frame = 'browser', url, marks = [], lang = 'en', workspace = 'northwind-outbound'}) => {
  const src = `/images/screenshots/${lang}/${id}.png`;
  const chrome = url ? `app.pipelime.ai/${workspace}${url}` : 'app.pipelime.ai';
  return <figure className={`pl-shot pl-shot--${frame} not-prose`}>
      <div className="pl-shot__frame">
        {frame !== 'bare' && <div className="pl-shot__bar">
            <span className="pl-shot__dots">
              <span className="pl-shot__dot" />
              <span className="pl-shot__dot" />
              <span className="pl-shot__dot" />
            </span>
            <span className="pl-shot__url">{chrome}</span>
          </div>}
        <div className="pl-shot__media">
          <img src={src} alt={alt} loading="lazy" />
          {marks.map(mark => <span key={mark.n} className="pl-shot__mark" style={{
    left: `${mark.x}%`,
    top: `${mark.y}%`
  }} aria-hidden="true">
              {mark.n}
            </span>)}
        </div>
      </div>
      {caption && <figcaption className="pl-shot__caption">{caption}</figcaption>}
    </figure>;
};

By the end of this page you've handed this agent leads yourself, instead of waiting on its automatic sourcing: added one at a time, pasted in, imported from a CSV, or picked from a quick search.

## Before you begin

* The agent needs a tag before **Add leads** appears at all. The tag is how an added lead becomes this agent's lead. See [Tags](/en/leads/tags) for where that tag comes from.
* You need the same permission that shows **Edit settings** next to the agent's pause switch. Without it, **Add leads** doesn't render either. It isn't greyed out, it's just gone.

## Steps

<Steps>
  <Step title="Open the agent">
    Go to <UiPath>Outreach → AI Agents</UiPath> and choose **Open** on the agent you want to add leads to.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Open the Add leads panel">
    Choose **Add leads**, in the strip above the tabs. It sits there on every tab, not only **Leads**.

    <Screenshot
      id="ai-agents/add-leads-to-an-agent--menu"
      url="/ai-agents/12"
      alt="The Add leads panel with four option cards: Add manually, Paste email addresses, Import a CSV and Search new leads, plus a fifth Lead generation option below a divider"
      caption="The same panel opens from the Prospects page, but there each flow asks which tag to use. Opened from an agent, the tag is already decided."
      marks={[
    { n: 1, x: 35, y: 41 },
    { n: 2, x: 65, y: 41 },
    { n: 3, x: 35, y: 53 },
    { n: 4, x: 65, y: 53 }
  ]}
    />

    **Add manually** (1), **Paste email addresses** (2) and **Import a CSV** (3) all add people you already have. **Search new leads** (4) is different. It searches our own lead database for people you don't have yet, the same search behind [Manual Search](/en/finding-leads/manual-search). Below all four sits **Lead generation**, a separate, ongoing automatic search rather than a one-time add. See [Lead sources](/en/ai-agents/lead-sources) for more.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Add one lead by hand">
    Choose **Add manually** to open **Add a lead manually**, the same manual-entry form the Prospects page uses, with one difference: the tag field is hidden, because the new lead is tagged with every tag this agent carries, not only its main one. See [Add leads manually or import a CSV](/en/leads/add-leads-and-import-csv) for what each field does.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Paste a list of addresses">
    Choose **Paste email addresses** to add several at once. Paste a list (commas, spaces or new lines all work as separators, and so do tabs and semicolons), and the count of valid addresses updates as you type, before you submit anything. Repeats are dropped, and each remaining address becomes a lead named from whatever comes before the @. There's no tag picker on this screen: the leads go to the agent's own main tag, and only that one, not every tag on the agent the way the manual form does.

    **AI Company Recognition**, on by default, builds a company profile for each lead from its email domain, skipping generic providers like Gmail and Outlook. The submit button names how many leads it's about to add; the import then runs in the background, a toast confirms it, and the panel closes back onto the agent.

    <Screenshot id="ai-agents/add-leads-to-an-agent--paste-emails" url="/ai-agents/12" alt="The Paste email addresses screen with three addresses parsed into chips and a 3 valid counter, no tag picker on screen" caption="Each address becomes a chip with a delete on it, so you can drop one without editing the paste." />
  </Step>

  <Step title="Import a CSV">
    Choose **Import a CSV** for the same wizard the Prospects page uses: upload, match the columns, review, then processing. The columns are matched for you the moment the file is read, and the matching step is skipped altogether when every required field already lines up. The one difference from the standalone version is the same as paste's: no tag picker, because the file is tagged with the agent's own main tag automatically. The page linked above walks the wizard step by step, including the column-mapping screen.
  </Step>

  <Step title="Search for new leads">
    Choose **Search new leads** for the same **Manual Search** filters-and-results screen, embedded here with the agent's tag already locked in, so there's nothing to pick. Filter on the left; a person you save on the right is imported and tagged straight away, one at a time, not as a background batch like paste or CSV. These are people you don't already have, so they come from our data provider. See [How many credits does a lead cost?](/en/finding-leads/credits-per-lead) for the details.

    <Screenshot id="ai-agents/add-leads-to-an-agent--search" url="/ai-agents/12" alt="The embedded lead search: a filter panel on the left, a table of results on the right with a save action on each row, and no tag control in the results header" caption="A representative example: the rows come from our data provider, so this screen is captured against a simulated response. Someone you already have shows as saved instead of offering a save action." />
  </Step>
</Steps>

## What happens next

<Check>
  The **Leads** tab on this agent shows the new lead: straight away for a saved search result, and once the background import has run for a pasted list or a CSV.
</Check>

While that tab has nothing in it, it offers **Add leads** in the middle of the screen next to **Add a lead source**, the same panel, without going back up to the tab strip. Once it has rows, the tab strip button is the way in.

## Troubleshooting

<AccordionGroup>
  <Accordion title="I don't see an Add leads button anywhere on the agent">
    Two separate things cause this. The agent has no tag yet. Give it one, since that's what turns an added lead into this agent's lead; see [Tags](/en/leads/tags). Or your role lacks the permission that also controls **Edit settings**. If that button is missing too, this is a role question, not a setup one.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="A lead I added by hand carries tags I didn't expect">
    That's expected only for **Add manually**. It tags a new lead with every tag on this agent, not just the one you're viewing from. **Paste email addresses**, **Import a CSV** and **Search new leads** all write only the agent's own main tag. This only shows up as a difference when the agent carries more than one tag.
  </Accordion>

  <Accordion title="A pasted or CSV batch doesn't show up on the Leads tab yet">
    Submitting closes the panel and refreshes the **Leads** tab once, immediately, which is usually before the background import has created anything. The toast tells you the import is still running. Leave the tab and come back when it's done: the list is rebuilt each time you open it.
  </Accordion>
