Connect a GoDaddy-hosted mailbox so your agents can send from it. Choosing GoDaddy fills in its mail servers for you, so what you supply is the mailbox address, a sender name and the mailbox password.

Before you begin

Many GoDaddy email plans are hosted on Microsoft 365 rather than on GoDaddy’s own mail servers. The settings behind the GoDaddy tile point at GoDaddy’s servers, so a Microsoft-hosted mailbox will not verify here. Connect it as Outlook or Microsoft 365 instead.
  • The password for this mailbox. GoDaddy does not use an app password here: the field asks for the password you sign in to the mailbox with.
  • IMAP switched on for the mailbox. Verification tests reading as well as sending, and it fails unless both work.

Connect the mailbox

1

Open the provider list

Go to and choose Add senders, then Connect.Gmail and Outlook lead as their own cards. Everything else sits in the All providers grid below them, in alphabetical order, which puts GoDaddy first (1). Choose it.
2

Enter your account details

On the Your account screen, put the mailbox address in Email address and the name recipients should see in Sender name. The name on your own account is used there by default, so change it only if you want something else. Choose Continue.
3

Add your password and verify

Enter the mailbox password as the Email password.Under the field, the wizard prints the sending server it is about to use: host, port and security type, next to an Edit link. Edit adds a Server settings step where you can change the sending and receiving servers by hand. Left alone, GoDaddy’s own values are used: smtpout.secureserver.net for sending and imap.secureserver.net for reading replies, both over SSL.Choose Verify connection. We open a real connection to GoDaddy for both sending and receiving, because a mailbox that can send but not receive would never see a reply.

What happens next

A confirmation panel reads “Your email is connected”. Choose Done, and the mailbox is on the Email Accounts page as Active.
A brand-new mailbox does not send at full volume right away. See Smart Daily Limit for how that number is worked out.

Troubleshooting

GoDaddy rejected the address and the password together, so check both. Choose Re-enter password to go back. Nothing you typed is lost. Remember the field wants the password you sign in to the mailbox with, not an app password. If the password is definitely right, the mailbox is likely hosted on Microsoft 365 rather than on GoDaddy’s own servers, and GoDaddy’s mail servers will not accept it. Connect it as Outlook or Microsoft 365 instead.
Sending only works when we can also read replies, and IMAP access looks turned off for this mailbox. Open the mailbox settings in GoDaddy, find the IMAP section (sometimes labelled “external access”), turn it on, then come back and choose Try again.
An account that verifies today can still move to Error later, usually after the password changes at the provider. Reconnect re-tests the connection without asking you to set the mailbox up again. See Fix a sender in Error: reconnect.
