Connect a Spaceship mailbox so your outreach goes out from it and we can read the replies. The wizard asks for the address and the mailbox’s own password; Spaceship’s mail server settings are already stored, so there is nothing to look up.

Before you begin

  • The mailbox address, and the password you use to sign in to that mailbox. The field is labelled Email password and there is no app-password step for Spaceship.
  • IMAP turned on for the mailbox. Verification tests sending and reading together and saves nothing unless both pass, so IMAP being off fails the whole connection, not just the reading half.

Connect the mailbox

1

Open the provider list

Go to and choose Add senders, then Connect under Connect your email.Spaceship is not one of the two featured cards. It sits in the All providers grid below them, in alphabetical order.
2

Enter your email and name

On Your account, type the mailbox address under Email address.Sender name arrives filled in with your own name. It is what recipients see as the “From” name, so change it if that is not what you want. Then choose Continue.
3

Enter your password

On Password, type the mailbox’s Email password.Under that field sits a line with the sending host, port and security type already filled in, and an Edit link beside it. Edit opens a Server settings step where those three values and the three receiving ones become editable fields. Once you open it, that step stays in the wizard, so you carry on from there. The mailbox’s own settings page carries the same six fields later, in its Email Settings section.
4

Verify the connection

Choose Verify connection. It sits at the foot of the password step, or at the foot of Server settings if you opened that. We open a real connection to Spaceship for both sending and reading, and store the mailbox only if both succeed.

What happens next

The wizard finishes on “Your email is connected”, and the mailbox appears on the Email Accounts page as Active.
A brand-new mailbox does not start sending campaigns at full volume, and for its first weeks it may send none at all while it builds a sending reputation. See Smart Daily Limit for how the daily number is worked out, and The quarantine and ramp-up for new mailboxes for what to expect at the start. A connected mailbox is not the same as a sending one. If nothing goes out at all, work through My agent isn’t sending anything, which covers the reasons in the order worth checking.

Troubleshooting

Spaceship rejected this email and password combination. Re-enter the password carefully: the wizard wants the password you sign in to the mailbox with, so a stray space or the wrong mailbox’s password are the usual causes. Re-enter password goes straight back to that field, and nothing else you typed is lost.
The sending half may be fine, but the reading half failed, and the mailbox is not stored until both work. Most often IMAP access is turned off: open the mailbox’s own settings, find the IMAP section and turn it on, then choose Try again. Your details are kept exactly as you entered them.
Usually temporary. Choose Try again to retry with the same details. The same panel also offers a quick-fix chip that switches the sending port and security type to the other common combination and re-runs the check straight away. Try it if retrying alone does not help.
