Your role needs
Read access to Manual Search read-searches. Admin, Member and Viewer have it by default.
If you cannot find this in your sidebar, your workspace may have a custom menu configuration. Contact support and we will check it for you.

Before you begin

  • The picker is delisted. Its Lead Generation group is hidden by default, and the group has to be switched on for your workspace before Manual Search shows up in the sidebar. Two ways in always work: the URL /lead-search, and , where Add opens an overlay whose Search new leads option is this same picker.
  • Searching and saving are two different permissions. The block above covers searching. Saving a result needs create-leads, the permission for adding a lead by hand, and a role without it sees every result with no Save button on any row.
  • Saving a person also looks up their email address. If one comes back, that lead is marked chargeable and counts against your credits like any sourced lead. If none does, the person is still saved, with no address on the record and nothing charged. See what consumes credits.

Steps

1

Open the picker

Go to if your workspace has that group switched on, or reach the same screen at /lead-search, or from with Add, then Search new leads. The filter panel is on the left. Until you set a filter, the right side shows a Search for Leads prompt rather than a results table.
2

Set your filters

Seven fields, none of them required on its own. Keywords is one box that searches across names, job titles and more. Job Titles, Seniority Levels and Company Size are fixed lists: open one, tick as many entries as you want, and note that you cannot type a value the list does not carry. Locations (a person’s city, US state or country), Company Locations (where their employer is based) and Company Domains (domain names, without www. or @) are free text instead: type a value, press , and it becomes a chip you can add to as often as you like.Search stays disabled until at least one field holds something, and Clear empties all seven at once. Every value you set also appears as a removable chip in the Active Filters summary at the top of the panel, which is the quickest way to drop one filter without touching the rest.
3

Search and read the results

Choose Search. The prompt is replaced by a table with Name, Company, Website and Actions columns, 30 rows to a page, and a pager underneath once there are more than 30 matches.Everyone listed comes from our data provider. Anyone already in this workspace shows Saved in place of a save action, and choosing Saved opens the lead you already have. Matching is on the provider’s own id for that person, so the same search run twice never offers to add them twice.A search that matches nobody gives you No Leads Found instead. Its Adjust Filters button clears every filter and returns you to the opening prompt, so it is a fresh start rather than a way back to what you just typed.
4

Choose a tag and save the ones you want

The results header carries the match count on the left and a tag selector on the right. Pick a destination there before you save anything: Save with no tag chosen warns you, opens the selector for you, and saves nothing. It is the tag picker used everywhere else in the product. Search your existing tags, or, if your role can create tags, choose Create new tag and make one without leaving the screen. The Select a tag to save leads hint under the count stays put whether or not you have chosen; what disappears once you choose is the information bar above the table.Save on a row imports that person under the chosen tag, and the row turns into Saved. There is no select-all and no batch action, so this is one row at a time.

What happens next

Everyone you saved is on your Prospects list at Untouched, carrying the tag you chose.
Saving puts that tag on the person’s company as well as on the person, and the company is what an AI agent matches its tag against. So an agent carrying that tag can pick the lead up on its own, on one condition: the address lookup has to have found an email. A saved person with no address on record is never written to, whatever tag they carry. Tags covers the rest of that join.

Troubleshooting

Its group starts hidden in every workspace and has to be switched on for yours, so nothing is wrong with your account. Open /lead-search directly, or use and Add, then Search new leads: that option is the same picker in an overlay, and it needs the same permission as saving.
Searching and saving are gated separately. A role that can search but not create leads sees every result with no Save action anywhere on the table. Ask an admin to extend your role, or hand the search over to someone who can save.
Every search checks its results against the leads already in this workspace, by the data provider’s id for that person. A match shows Saved rather than a save action, and choosing it opens the existing lead instead of creating a second copy. Someone else in the workspace may have saved them, or an agent may have found them on its own.
