The last thing onboarding does is build you a working AI agent. You get targeting, a lead source that goes looking for companies like your best customers, and the outreach that will contact them. This page covers what was created, why the outreach arrives paused, and what you press to start it.

While it builds

Onboarding hands you over to and a full-screen panel takes the page, headed “Setting up your workspace”. Under it, six lines narrate the work: analyzing your website and offer, identifying your ideal customers, choosing the decision-makers to reach, building your lead source, writing your outreach playbook, putting your first agent together. Those lines advance on their own timer. They are narration, not a progress bar. In the background the panel asks every few seconds whether the agent is finished, and it reveals the result as soon as it is.

What it built

You are not asked anything during this. Everything comes from the profile onboarding already collected from your website. Four pieces appear, each on its own card:
  • WORKSPACE: your workspace, with your name, logo and domain on it.
  • AI AGENT: the outreach itself. Its goal is to book meetings, and it is set to send from every email account in the workspace.
  • LEAD SOURCE: a saved search that keeps finding companies matching your ideal customer, with the limits it will work inside.
  • MEETING LINK: a booking link called “Intro call”, 30 minutes long, already filled in as the agent’s call to action.
The agent, its lead source and the tag that joins them are created with the same name, suggested from your profile. The tag matters more than it looks: it is how the agent finds the leads its source brings in.
The booking link and its card depend on the meetings feature being switched on. Where it is not, the panel reveals three cards, no booking link is created, and the agent’s meeting goal has nothing behind it yet.

The limits your lead source starts with

A first lead source is deliberately narrow. Its targeting is trimmed to the strongest few industries and a single market, so the companies it brings back are few enough to read. Both company limits can be edited in place from the source’s row on the agent’s Sources tab. The first number on that row is the companies analyzed so far, counted against the total.

Why outreach starts paused

The agent is created with its outreach switched off, and nothing ever switches it on for you. Not the build, not anything that runs after it: resuming is a decision you make. It starts that way because a new workspace has no mailbox in it. The agent is set to send from every email account in the workspace, and an empty roster counts as no sending channel at all. There is nothing for it to send from until you connect one. Sourcing, though, is running. The lead source starts on its own as soon as its searches are ready, usually within seconds of the agent appearing. So leads arrive into an agent that is not contacting anyone. That is why the list shows it as Outreach paused with an issues badge, and why the agent’s own page carries a warning with a Resume outreach button.

Take it live

1

Connect an email account

Add email accounts on the closing band opens the same panel you would reach from the Email Accounts page. Any mailbox will do to start. See Connect your first email account and go live.
2

Resume outreach

Open the agent and press Resume outreach. Until you do, the agent keeps collecting leads and contacting nobody.
3

Connect a calendar behind the booking link, if you were given one

This step applies only where the fourth card appeared. The booking link was created without a calendar, so nobody can book on it yet. While the panel is still open there is a Connect Google Calendar button. Afterwards the agent shows a warning with a Connect calendar button instead. Where the meetings feature is off, no booking link was created and neither button appears, so skip this step. See Connect your calendar so leads can book.
4

Write your own instructions, when you are ready

The agent was left with no instructions on purpose. It writes with the built-in defaults instead of a copy of them frozen at signup. That is why the setup checklist shows Instructions added as still outstanding on a brand-new agent, and nothing is blocked by it. See Agent instructions.

What happens next

Once a mailbox is connected and you have pressed Resume outreach, the agent’s status changes to Active: sourcing running and outreach running.
Leads do not appear instantly. The source works through companies at its daily limit, and each company has to be analyzed before its people are worth finding. What to expect from your first leads covers the first few days.

Troubleshooting

The panel offers Try again and Explore my workspace. Retrying is safe: if an agent already exists it is handed back as the one that was built, so you can never end up with two. If it keeps failing, build one yourself with Create AI Agent, or work through Your first agent: what to do when something looks wrong.
It does not come back once the build has finished. Your agent is in the list instead. If the build was still running when you closed it, the page shows an inline card in its place, with the same six lines of narration, until the agent is ready. That card is where the product states how long this takes: usually under a minute.
Its searches are prepared in the background and the source starts by itself once they exist. If they never arrive, the source stays waiting rather than failing, and you can start it yourself from its row on the agent’s Sources tab.
A brand-new agent is not supposed to be. Two rows only tick once the agent has actually worked, and Instructions added stays open until you write your own. The agent setup checklist explained goes through every row and what completes it.
