update-lead-companiesto change anything here. Without it the image, Automation and add-contact controls are not rendered at all. Reading the record is unaffected.
Steps
1
Open a company
From , click a company’s name to open its record. The record opens on a banner and a header card. Until you upload images, the avatar is a
generated mark built from the company’s first letter and the banner a generated pattern. The
pencil button in the top right corner of the banner takes a cover image. The small button on
the bottom right corner of the avatar, Change Image, opens a two-entry menu: Upload Image takes a file,
and Search Logo looks a logo up from the company’s website domain, so it needs the record
to have a website link and it only finds logos that are already published somewhere. These
image controls are hidden from a role that cannot change companies.Below the header, About holds the company’s description, with a character count under it.
That paragraph is the same one the AI reads for context when it writes. On the right, a
Match Score card rates this company as a prospect for your own company, showing the number
and a band label once it has been scored. An unscored company says so, and offers
Calculate Score to a role that can change companies. See
Companies list, match score and discards for what the
score means.
2
Write AI Instructions & Context
AI Instructions & Context sits under About and does a different job. About is what the
company is. AI Instructions & Context is how the AI should behave toward its people. It is
optional free text, and while it is empty the field shows a faint italic prompt to add extra
context or rules for the AI. The hint under the field is the product’s own worked example: an existing
customer on a given plan, a language to write in, a standing rule about discounts. To write one, hover the field and click the pencil that appears on its right. Type the rule,
then save it: click the green tick at the end of the box, press or
, or click anywhere outside the field. Plain adds a line
break rather than saving, because this field takes several lines and so does About. The
company name, the industry and the website on the header card are edited the same way, except
that they hold one line each, so plain saves them.A note can run to 2000 characters. A longer one is refused when it is saved.
3
Check the employees list
Employees lists the leads recorded at this company, each with its email address, when it
has one, and a chip for where it sits in your pipeline. The column above that chip is headed
Status, but what it shows is the stage. View All Employees opens the Prospects list
filtered to this one company. An empty card reads “No employees found”.The Automation button beside it works on the whole company. It opens a menu offering to
enable or disable automation for all of this company’s employees, then asks you to confirm,
naming the company and how many people it covers. It reaches every lead attached to the
company, including any the table itself is not showing. When the AI chose which people to pursue here, rather than you adding them by hand, an info
icon next to the Employees title explains that choice on hover.
4
See where a company came from, if it was tracked
Website Tracking creates a company record the first time a visit arrives from a domain that
matched nothing on your list, unless your capacity for identified companies is already used
up. A company created that way carries a Discovered via Website Tracking
card in the right column, naming the Tracked Domain the script is installed on and the
tracker that caught the visit. A company a search or an import found does not get this card,
and neither does one that already existed before a visit was traced back to it. See
Identified companies, capacity and the tracker dashboard
for the dashboard this feeds into.
What happens next
Your note replaces the italic prompt in the field, and no error appears.
Troubleshooting
"Error updating company" appears when you save a field
"Error updating company" appears when you save a field
Most often it is one of two things: your role cannot change companies, or the note you wrote
is longer than 2000 characters. The permission case is worth knowing about because this screen does not warn you in advance.
About, AI Instructions & Context, the company name, the industry and the website stay openable
and typeable for a role that cannot save them, unlike the image controls, the Automation button
and the buttons that add an email, a phone number or a link, which disappear instead. The
rejection only arrives when you save. Ask an admin for
update-lead-companies.Emptying AI Instructions & Context does not clear it
Emptying AI Instructions & Context does not clear it
Deleting the text and then clicking outside the field abandons the edit rather than saving the
empty value, so the old note comes back. To clear a note, delete the text and save it with the
green tick.
Someone is missing from the Employees list
Someone is missing from the Employees list
The card asks only for the leads whose analysis has finished or has not started yet. One that
is mid-analysis, or that stopped with an error, is left out until that resolves. The stage a
lead sits at makes no difference: every stage from Untouched to Closed is listed.
