When you finish, one of your own mailboxes is connected, it has hours it is allowed to send in, and your agent’s outreach is switched on. Those are three separate steps. None of them happens on its own.

A global overlay with no route of its own. Deep-linked with ?senders=menu|connect|import|provision|provision-status, so a help page can link straight to one of its three paths. If you cannot find this in your sidebar, your workspace may have a custom menu configuration. Contact support and we will check it for you.

Before you begin

  • A mailbox you can sign in to. Outreach goes out through your own account. We do not run our own email servers.
  • Your provider’s name. Most tiles in the provider grid carry their own server settings, so naming your provider is enough. If yours is not in the grid, pick the Other (any) tile and type the server details in yourself. Have your provider’s help page open for that.
  • An agent to do the sending. The one created for you at signup arrives with its lead sourcing running and its outreach switched off. It is waiting on everything below.

Steps

1

Open Add senders

Two places lead to the same overlay. On the agent’s dashboard, the red No sending channel connected banner carries a Connect senders button (1). Or open and choose Add senders. Both open the overlay on its menu. The banner is not a fault. An agent needs one channel to reach people on (an email account, a LinkedIn account or a WhatsApp account), and a brand-new workspace has none. This page connects the first kind.
2

Choose how to add the account

The menu offers two cards. Connect your email sends from an inbox you already own; Import senders bulk-adds accounts you already have from a CSV file. Choose Connect.Add senders covers both paths in full.
3

Pick your provider

Gmail and Outlook lead the list because each has its own guided flow (1): Gmail walks you through creating an app password, Outlook signs you in with Microsoft. Every other provider sits in the All providers grid (2) and shares one setup form.Pick your provider by name and its Server settings arrive already filled in. For most tiles the whole flow is then your email address, your password and a connection check. Only the named tiles carry those presets. The Other (any) tile carries none, so choosing it adds a Server settings step where you type the SMTP and IMAP host, port and security in yourself.
4

Finish the provider's flow

Follow the flow for what you picked: Gmail, Outlook, or any other provider. They all end the same way: a confirmation reading Your email is connected. Done closes the overlay; Add another sender returns to the provider list so you can connect the next one. The Back control inside a provider’s flow goes to the provider list too, not to the menu.
5

Give the account sending hours

An account connected this way arrives with no sending schedule. We only pick an account to send from when its schedule covers the current day and time. Until you set one, the account sits in the list showing No Schedule and sends nothing, whatever the agent is doing.Open and click the No Schedule chip on the account’s row. The chip opens the account’s own settings at its availability grid. Drag across the hours it may send in (times are shown in your own timezone), then Save. To set several accounts at once, tick them in the list and use Edit Schedule in the bar that appears.Resting days, sending windows and deferrals covers what else can hold a send back once the hours are in place.
6

Resume outreach

Connecting an account does not start anything: nothing in the connect flow touches the agent. Open the agent from and move the switch in its header from Paused to Active (1).That switch is the whole agent, not just the sending. Turning it on resumes outreach and restarts any lead source that was paused by hand or has not started yet. Turning it off does what Pause everything in the Pause options menu (2) does: it stops outreach and every running lead source. To stop one half only, use Only sourcing or Only outreach from that menu. The pill beside the agent’s name and the word beside the switch are read from different things. The pill combines the campaign’s state with its lead sources’ state; the switch reports the campaign’s state alone. That is why an agent can show Outreach paused next to a switch that reads Paused.

What happens next

The account has a row on the Email Accounts list, its Status cell no longer reads No Schedule, and the agent’s dashboard no longer shows No sending channel connected.
The list refreshes as you close the overlay, so an account connected a moment ago is already there. Its row carries the Account it sends as, Daily Usage (messages sent today over the account’s daily limit), a Warm-up cell, and a Status. A new account does not start at full volume. We pace its sending for you to protect deliverability. See Smart Daily Limit for how the daily figure is worked out, and The quarantine and ramp-up for new mailboxes for what to expect in the first weeks.

Troubleshooting

The account has no sending hours yet, and an account with no hours is never picked to send: it is a stop, not a warning. This is the state every account connected through the overlay starts in. Click the chip and set the hours, as in the fifth step above.
This one is advisory: it means no campaign names this account directly. An agent built for you at signup reaches for every account in the workspace instead of a named list, so its accounts read No Campaigns while it is sending through them. Clicking the chip takes you to your campaigns if you would rather attach it by name. Email account statuses explains what the Status cell can and cannot tell you.
Expected: connecting an account writes nothing to the agent. Open the agent and move the switch, as in the last step above. If the header has no switch at all, you do not have permission to change campaigns in this workspace and an admin has to do it. Agent statuses and pausing explains the rest of the statuses.
Connected is not the same as sending. Check the two steps this page ends with (sending hours, then the agent’s switch) before anything else. My agent isn’t sending anything goes through the rest in the order worth checking.
