Add a domain to Blocked Domains and, from the moment you save, nothing in this workspace sends automated email to an address on that domain, and lead sourcing stops finding you contacts at companies whose website is on it.

Update access to Blocked Domains update-companies. Admin have it by default.
If you cannot find this in your sidebar, your workspace may have a custom menu configuration. Contact support and we will check it for you.

Before you begin

  • Nothing beyond the permission above. Blocked Domains is one list for the whole workspace, not per campaign, email account or agent, so everything that sends or sources leads reads the same list.

Steps

1

Open Blocked Domains

Go to .
2

Add domains

Type or paste into the Blocked Domains field and press Enter. You can enter one domain at a time, or paste a whole list at once, separated by commas, semicolons, spaces, tabs or line breaks: we pull every domain, URL or email address out of what you pasted and normalize each one, dropping http:// or https://, a www. prefix, anything after the domain and a port number, and lowercasing what is left. https://www.example.com/pricing and sales@example.com both become the same chip, example.com. Anything with no domain, URL or email in it is left in the box exactly as typed instead of becoming a chip.Blocking example.com also blocks every subdomain of it, like mail.example.com, but not an unrelated domain that merely contains the same text.
3

Save your changes

Choose Save. It stays disabled until the list on screen differs from what’s saved, and Cancel puts it back to the last saved list.

What happens next

A confirmation reads “Blocked domains updated successfully”.
Every campaign send, follow-up, automatic reply and workflow email-send block in this workspace checks its recipient against the list before it goes out, and does not send to an address on a blocked domain. That check runs on every attempt, not once when the lead was created, so it also covers a lead that was already in your workspace before you blocked its domain. Blocking a domain does not close or delete that lead and does not undo anything already sent: it stops further automated email to it, starting from the moment you save. Lead sourcing does the same on the company side, so you never end up with contacts at a company whose website is on a blocked domain. Such a company is either dropped as it is found or stopped at website analysis with a blocked-domain error, and either way it is never enriched with contacts. Importing leads from a CSV skips the whole row, not just the blocked field, if the company website or any of the email addresses on that row is on a blocked domain. Importing companies from a CSV skips a row whose website is on one.
This list covers what the product sends on its own. An email you write and send by hand from a lead’s page is not checked against it, so you can still email a blocked domain yourself.

Troubleshooting

The field only turns pasted text into a chip if it can find at least one domain, URL or email address in it. Text with none of those is left in the box exactly as typed, not cleared and not added, so fix it and press Enter again.
That’s expected. Blocking a domain doesn’t undo anything already sent, and it doesn’t close the lead either: it only stops further automated email to that address, starting from the moment you save.
Blocked Domains matches an email address or a website domain, so it covers email sending, CSV imports and lead sourcing. Nothing outside email checks it: LinkedIn, WhatsApp and Instagram messages go out regardless of what is on this list.
